Celebrating Women’s Health & Female Health Professionals
As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we at Johnson Medical Associates thought it appropriate to highlight and welcome two new medical professionals under our roof: Elizabeth Atchason and Emily McMurtrey.
Elizabeth Atchason: Expert in Women’s Health
Elizabeth recently joined our team at Johnson Medical Associates, and we look forward to how she will help our patients in personalized ways. She is now available for appointments 9am to 3pm Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Elizabeth has been a registered nurse for 16 years and a nurse practitioner for 12 years.
Currently, she is a family nurse practitioner, who specializes in women’s health and has extensive training in bio identical hormone replacement therapy, specializing in natural hormone replacement. She also has experience in using nutritional supplements and diet changes in the treatment of medical conditions, and has completed continuing education in an integrative approach to hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue.
Her personal experience healing from hormone imbalances and mold toxicity has helped her further understand patients dealing with severe illnesses or chronic medical conditions. With those medical conditions, she greatly benefited from implementing a healthy lifestyle by adding certain healthy supplements, and going through hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Through this, she was able to heal and more fully understand the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. With all of this first hand experience, she is excited to be joining a practice where she knows that she can make difference in helping patients with certain specialized medical needs.
“Breast cancer awareness month reminds our patients how important it is to do at home self breast exams,” Elizabeth said. “Annual exams are very important to catch early stages.”
